Course Overview

This is the most complete course for anyone who wants to learn all about subtitling for hearing viewers, Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH) and Closed Captioning (CC). The GoSub PRO course is for complete beginners and covers all the fundamental terms and concepts, industry standard subtitling, SDH and captioning guidelines, timing specs and processes, conversions between file formats and conforming processes. Students will learn the mechanics of subtitling and captioning, as well as how to create and describe sound effects, character ID’s and how to caption music and lyrics. By the end of the training, students will be able to create subtitles in their mother tongue, open and closed captions, subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as well as edit, adapt, conform and quality check files. The course assumes students have translation skills from English into their mother tongue into which they will be asked to translate as part of the course.
